The games, puzzles, and art supplies you funded are used every other week in my 9th grade Biology and 9–12th grade Physics classes—turning the end of our week into something students genuinely look forward to.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, their excitement filled the room. They immediately began exploring the games, testing puzzles, comparing options, and eagerly planning which activity they wanted to try first. Even students who tend to be quiet or reserved jumped in, talking, laughing, and connecting with classmates they don't typically interact with. It was a moment where you could feel the atmosphere in the classroom shift toward curiosity and community.\r\n\r\nNow, during Fun Friday, students use these resources to practice communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. I often see groups huddled around a puzzle strategizing the next piece, others working through a game that requires teamwork and problem-solving, and some using art supplies as a creative outlet. Students who are usually quiet have surprised me with how confidently they lead their groups or share ideas during these activities.\r\n\r\nOne unexpected benefit has been the way students engage with games they would normally ignore—discovering new interests, building confidence, and leaning into challenges. Fun Friday has also become a motivator for academic engagement; students are more eager to complete projects and stay focused during the week because they want to earn that collaborative time.\r\n\r\nThese resources extend beyond Fridays as well. When students finish work early, they often choose a puzzle or game to give themselves a healthy mental break. This has helped create a calm, positive environment where students feel comfortable and supported.\r\n\r\nThe greatest impact is how the skills they practice—communication, teamwork, and problem-solving—carry over into our academic work. I see students applying these same skills during labs, partner investigations, and group physics challenges. The confidence and collaboration built during Fun Friday have directly improved how students work together on daily tasks and hands-on projects.\r\n\r\nAs we continue moving through our interactive learning units, students will keep using these strengthened communication and collaboration skills to take on more complex labs and group work. Your contribution has not only brought joy into the classroom but has also helped shape the way my students grow academically and socially. You've given them a reason to look forward to Fridays—and countless opportunities to build the skills they'll use long after they leave my classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for making that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1757509922064,"projectUrl":"project/fun-friday/9560982/","projectTitle":"Fun Friday","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Self","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3620346_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1464117858271","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3620346"},{"teacherId":5646013,"projectId":9379410,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity! Because of your support, every table in my classroom is now equipped with supply caddies that students use daily. From sketching scientific diagrams to graphing multiple sets of data during labs, the markers, expo tools, and eraser cloths have given students the chance to make their learning visible and track their own progress in real time. It has been exciting to see them take greater ownership of their learning with these new resources.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, students' excitement was contagious. They immediately wanted to test out the markers for drawings and graphs, and the fidgets quickly became a classroom favorite. Many use them throughout the day to help with focus and attention, which has made a big difference for their confidence and engagement. These supplies have become both academic tools and personal supports for my students.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these resources will be especially valuable as students design and present their own experiments this year. Having access to shared supplies allows them to collaborate more effectively, communicate their results creatively, and push their thinking further.
