As our annual community service project, this April my students have chosen to invite multiple schools ranging from elementary to high school to teach others how to do drone racing. The students have identified the need to teach others about their interest in drone racing if we want to have any sort of racing league. They have agreed to host a Saturday event as a community service project for others to come and learn and try out the sport of drone racing.
The students have decided that we need a community outreach event in order to get other people interested in this hobby.
Their hope is to create a drone racing league within JCPS, and have realized that they need to teach other kids how to play the game if they want to have anyone t compete against.
The students identified a lack of other schools with have a drone program as an issue, and they have volunteered to host an event to both teach other students and demonstrate to schools why they should have a similar program.
This outreach effort is student led and the students are excited to share their knowledge with others.
The caution tape will be used to identify the different zones where students are teaching groups. The storage containers will help organize for the event. The batteries and chargers will make sure that we can keep teaching groups to fly during our 3 hour community event. All of the materials in this Donors Choose project will be used for the Saturday community service event.
