Sharing Multicultural Unity With Our Preschoolers

My Students

As a teacher of a Head Start/Pre-K class, I know that my students are faced daily with all kinds of challenges which they meet with smiles and hard work.

It is my goal to provide them with as many diverse choices as I can throughout my classroom.

I want to enrich their minds and their lives in every way possible in the time they spend with me. I want them to see that their options are unlimited, dreams can come true, and they can truly reach for the stars. Oh, the places they will go!

My Project

I need more items in my classrooms for my students to help encourage multicultural unity. The dolls, along with the multicultural books, will help us teach the children about the cultures in other countries and about different nationalities.

These materials will help our students learn that we are all different yet we are all the same.

I want to help teach the children to be proud of who they are, where they are from, their cultures, and teach them to respect their peers. I want the children to be able to learn from each other but at the same time teach each other about their differences, different cultures, and various backgrounds. The craft materials can be used in many ways to promote diversity among the students. Learning about diversity is also important for preschoolers' social and emotional development.
