Our fifth-grade classroom consists of 48 hard-working boys and girls. We are located in a rural community just north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We are fortunate to have a very supportive community that values education and the betterment of our students.
Reading opens children's minds to a world of adventure, and sharing books globally can take it to a whole new level.
With so much technology in the world today, it is important to make connections across the world that can expand their knowledge of various cultures, but yet see that children around the world are learning through the very same books!
Our class will participate in the Global Read Aloud in fall. This is an annual event that takes place in countries all over the world. We will be reading this book and sharing with other students around the world! Through various technological platforms, we will be able to share our insights into the characters and the storyline.
Not only in this a great literature lesson, it also allows us to learn about different schools, students, and cultures of countries all over the world!
This will assist in teaching children about the differences and similarities that exist between themselves and other children from different areas of the world, while at the same time be learning from the same book at the same time!
