This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Middle schoolers are faced with many challenges every day. Some of those challenges include being with the peers, balancing home life and school life and finding who they are as a person. My middle school students are no exception to those challenges, but many of them face financial hardships at home.

Every week I have a few students come to my class to discreetly ask for feminine products.

All of the products are things I've brought from my own home and purchased myself. The word has spread through the grade levels that I always have the necessary supplies for emergencies, but recently I have been running out. I would never turn a student away in need and often pull from my own purse. The nurse has run out of supplies numerous times and having a supply on hand for those occasions will help ease the stress on the students and myself.

With these donations I can give my students the proper hygiene supplies they need. I have female students who need various sizes of pads. I also have students that are in need of deodorant and toothbrushes and toothpaste. This is something we can give our students discreetly so they never have to go without or feel ashamed. This can only boost their confidence and show them that kindness is all around them.
