My Students

"The more you read, the more things you will know" - Dr. Seuss First grade is an important year in school for learning to read. My goal is for all students to be reading on grade level and ready for second grade at the end of the school year by putting books in their hands!

We are a small, rural school full of sweet, active students.

They like to learn by actively participating! My classroom has 21 first grade students that are at various stages of learning to read. No matter where they are, they are all eager to learn more and become better readers!

My Project

I am asking for individual copies of three Berenstain Bears books for each of my students to read in the classroom. They will use them to practice reading skills and study the characters in them. They will further their understanding of these characters, what they learn, and how they change. They will each have an individual copy of the book which will allow them to read at his/her own pace.

One of our goals is to teach students more about understanding characters in a story and what those characters learn.

This combines reading skills and lessons that students can carry with them throughout their lives. My students will each have a copy of the requested books to practice reading individually to better understand the characters and the lessons learned. I hope that you will partner with me to allow my students this opportunity.
