My Students

These children are our future! My classroom is very busy and my students are active, loud, and silly, and I love that about them. I want these students to develop a true love of learning this year and ensure them a long successful journey!

I do a lot of hands-on activities to keep my students' bodies busy and engaged throughout the school day.

Our school is in a small town with a large variety of socioeconomic status and race. The students and parents are hardworking and want the best for their children, and they respect the teachers and staff tremendously.

Common Core has really raised the bar for first grade. There is a lot of focus on testing and not a lot of focus on the fact that these students are only six or seven years old. I want to educate my students and see them succeed while still fostering their nature of being little kids.

My Project

Our classroom has many hands on learning opportunities. Students learn when they are able to explore concepts taught in class in a hands-on way. We are in need of geometric shapes and more hands-on learning materials for this concepts. This project contains a variety of learning tools so learning about geometry can be made fun. We plan on using these materials for whole class and small group instruction. The project has enough small shapes so each student can have their own set during math time. The students need to be able to touch and explore the difference concepts for faces, edges and vertices.
