My Students

I have the privilege of teaching music to elementary students. Coming from teaching in a regular classroom for 13 years, I will need to change up things. I teach at a Title I school in a high diversity neighborhood where over 90% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. We try to give our students every advantage that we possibly can.

My students are inquisitive and ready to learn.

I know that with assistance, we can have a great school year.

My Project

I am currently teaching my students more about percussion instruments. Unfortunately I do not have enough tambourines for the kids to all get to play them. I would like to add 10 tambourines to my classroom and some more sand blocks for activities that the entire class can participate in.

It is so nice to get the kids excited about music and I want them all to play every instrument that I can give them.

These kids are being exposed to so many new aspects of music each day and I want to keep the excitement up. The amount of learning and the expression on their face when they get to play a new instrument is wonderful.
