Shakespeare Unlocked: a Midsummer Night’s Dream for the Modern Age!

Help me give my students an opportunity to enjoy one of Shakespeare's funniest plays. This is more accessible to my students of various reading levels; my copies of Romeo & Juliet are a HUGE help in 9th grade.

My Project

This year, I took on an additional class I have never taught before: English II. I have a background in English, but this is both a course and a grade I have never taught. Typically, I teach 9th, 11th, and 12th. I am so excited to be teaching something new; sophomores are a little tough to reach but I am excited to help them take charge of their learning.

I love teaching Shakespeare and these books will help my sophomores feel less intimidated by Shakespeare and more willing to take ownership of their learning.

I use the Romeo and Juliet No Fear books for my 9th graders and it genuinely helps them to engage with the material and to understand it more clearly. I really try to encourage my students use their resources, so providing them with a text that makes something more approachable, therefore making them feel more engaged, makes such a difference in helping them take ownership of their learning.
