My Students

Haruki Murakami once said, "If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking." Introducing new texts to my English and Drama students has been my undertaking for the last year. To that end, I am hoping to bring a little known Shakespearean text into my classroom, Love's Labours Lost.

This comedy is a story of hope and resilience.

One that I hope my students can find parallels to our modern world in. With engaging characters and a tale that transcends time and culture, this is a piece that my students can really sink into.

My Project

By purchasing a class set of Love's Labours Lost, I will be able to introduce my students to the wonder of theatre within both my English and Drama classrooms.

With great comedic wit, Shakespeare's Love's Labours Lost lends itself to modern society in a way that is supremely accessible to all people.

Through the use of this text, I hope to highlight how society has both changed and stayed the same, while introducing students to the rigor of Elizabethan English. With this class set, students will be able to follow along as their peers stand and perform scenes in front of the class. They will be able to engage in the reading in a very tangible way, rather than relying on a digital script.
