My Students

How does good literature stand the test of time? This is just one of the many things my students discover in our fun unit on Shakespeare!

My 3rd grade students have been identified as gifted and talented by state-mandated criteria.

These particular students participate in a pull-out gifted program called Challenge, and attend my class one day per week for 125 minutes. Our school is very diverse and the students that attend our school represent 10 different countries and speak 17 different languages. Our gifted curriculum is rigorous and challenging; however, we lack the appropriate materials to effectively teach this Shakespeare unit.

My Project

As part of the 3rd grade curriculum for the Gifted and Talented program, I introduce my students to William Shakespeare and four of his famous plays: Midsummer Night's Dream, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and Twelfth Night. By providing my classroom with copies of these age-appropriate books, you will be enabling my students to read and enjoy Shakespeare for themselves! These books are easy to understand and have fun illustrations for the students.

Gifted students are often overlooked because of the misconception that "everything comes easy to them".

However, these children need materials and resources also, especially texts! It is my goal to expose my young students to the wonderful literature of William Shakespeare so that they may understand and enjoy the magic of the Bard. Through your generous donation, I can achieve this goal and be able to place a copy of these plays into the hands of all of my students.
