I am the family consumer science teacher and a coordinator at a small, rural school. I teach high school students who are eager to learn about careers. My students are future teachers, nurses, fashion designers, chefs, lawyers, managers, and bankers. They are learning skills such as sewing, cooking, money management, college prep, child development, and career prep.
My students are hard workers who strive to do their best.
I want to do everything I can to provide them with quality experiences that will prepare them for their future careers.
My Project
I teach several different classes in the same room. My fashion design students need to be able to use the same area that my culinary students utilize.
We need a counter height tables for culinary and sewing that can serve multiple purposes.
My sewing students can use these tables for cutting and piecing patterns. Currently, we do not have an area that is large enough to accommodate a pattern to cut. This table is also the proper height for cutting fabric. The tables we currently have, are too low for working while standing, which causes the students to have to bend at an uncomfortable angle to work. I am amazed by the creativity of my fashion design students. This table will help them create new designs comfortably.
My culinary students can sanitize the tables and use them for food prep. The addition of this table will increase the prep area they currently have.
We need a total of 4 tables and 16 stools in the classroom. We are dividing this project into 4 parts in hopes of funding a little at a time. We are so excited that our first 3 projects funded! We are almost there! This project is part 4 of 4.
We are excited about improving the functionality of our classroom with the new work tables and stools. Thank you so much for supporting our classroom!
