My Project

Being that our school is STEM focused, we would like the opportunity to extend students learning through the utilization of hands-on resources that support 21st Century Critical Thinking skills. By offering students the opportunity to learn about the science/mechanics of sewing, we can open doors that might have otherwise stayed closed. Our curriculum encompasses STEM throughout all of our grade levels and content. Students are encouraged to think creatively and critically about their own learning and the world around them.

By having sewing machines in our Makerspace/Engineering Lab, our middle schoolers be able to express their creativity by sewing items that will be donated to a local shelter.

Our goals are to offer students service hours to create while giving back to our community. With the addition of sewing machines students can see first hand how their contribution of blankets, toys, and clothes can have a BIG impact!! Our local animal shelter has already reached out for pet adoption blankets...we just need support of our goals; the one sewing machine we have is just not enough!
