Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first year teacher, working in a newly developed school. Currently I have no working technology, other than my own personal laptop that I bring to the classroom daily. Each day I encourage my students to try their best, and I reinforce how important they are to our community.

My students entered my room significantly under grade level with low self-esteem.

By the end of the year I want all of my students leaving my classroom with a strong foundation, academically and personally, that they can continue building upon for years to come. My biggest challenge in my classroom currently is the lack of technology. It is difficult to explore different topics or even review student work without being available to properly visualize what I'm covering.

My Project

One of the main ways to have students attain 21st century skills is to give them the ability to use technology in the classroom. This project will allow for endless possibilities. The projector will be invaluable not only in its ability to show students the world visually, but also, in sharing student work in the areas of writing, mathematics, science journals entries, and social studies content. This projector could reach all of my different learners: auditory, visual, and kinesthetic.

With this projector I can make lessons and visually display them in front of my students developing abstract ideas into concrete learning, thus developing long-term learners.

A project will allow content to come to life. Some of my students are English language learners and really need the visual aspect to build their schema. Although I am most excited because I know a project that will help all of my students, by engaging them in ways paper cannot. Sometimes you just need to be able to see it!
