Our classroom motto is that "We don't do easy. We make easy happen through hard work and learning." In our classroom, the hard work and learning are achieved through learning games, hands-on experiences and an energetic environment.
Our classroom is an inquisitive group of active second graders.
The majority of students are being raised in single-parent homes. In our school, over 80% of students receive free or reduced lunch. Despite all of these difficulties and hardships, the students in my class come prepared to work hard and learn every day. They are a community of learners who support one another in every endeavor and learning task.
My Project
Second grade is all about fun, excitement and learning. The best way to keep students engaged throughout the year is to plan fun, interactive days that are full of meaningful learning experiences, as well as, memorable lessons. The costumes and decorations for the classroom that I have requested will be used throughout the year for four room transformations and exciting learning days.
Imagine dressing up as a detective to practice close reading and earn clues to solve a mystery or as a jungle explorer as you begin learning how to research and write informative texts.
These are just a few learning experiences that I would like to provide for my students through the use of these materials. Students will have the opportunity to dress up as detectives, the Cat in the Hat and explorers on fun learning days. These days will be used to introduce and review important learning objectives and standards. By providing students with a memorable and fun day of learning, students will be more likely to remember the content they are learning, as well as, learn to love learning and school.
