My Students
I am a second-grade teacher in a high poverty elementary school in southern Delaware. I have both regular education and special education students in my classroom. I also have a high population of ESL students who are either new to the country, still learning English or lacking language and vocabulary. I love teaching second grade! Second graders are enthusiastic about learning and becoming independent individuals. My students are so passionate about learning and work so hard to overcome their daily challenges from home and school. I am always looking for ways to continue to challenge my students and better prepare them for third grade.
My Project
The challenge is on! I have challenged my students to reach a personal reading goal. Each student has set an individual goal on how many books they can read this spring. Unfortunately, we do not have many books appropriate for their reading levels in our classroom. My students are so excited about this challenge but we desperately need more literature so they are able to meet their goals. They will love all of these new boxes and the fun titles that have been selected. Students will love reading about all the favorite characters such as Arthur, Splat the Cat, Marley, and Amelia Bedelia. Please help my students meet their goal and develop a love of reading!
