My students represent the rich diversity of Spring Branch. Regardless of their native language, ethnic background, and socioeconomic status, they are all pursuing excellence by participating in the International Baccalaureate Program.
With these rigorous expectations and diversity come challenges.
My students range from the 10th percentile in math achievement to the 96th percentile in math achievement. This means various students in the same classroom need unique supports to grow and learn.
My students who have learned English as a second language need additional support on acquiring academic vocabulary and my gifted and talented students constantly need me to differentiate instruction so they continue to push themselves and grow.
Students are more motivated to practice in a challenging course like Algebra when they understand their assignments are individualized and meaningful.
The dry erase markers and sheet protectors allow me to provide all of my students with personalized practice.
These options include whiteboard stations, online practice , peer corrections, and reusable scantrons.
Students will use the tape, scissors, glue, and markers to build their interactive notebooks. This will include saving class notes, preserving content-driven Algebra activities, and creating engaging forms of notes.
Students will use the colored paper to make reusable Algebra Tiles, an essential math tool, and foldables, tools used to help engage students when explore key concepts and formulas in their interactive notebooks.
