Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students are creative. Our students are driven. Our students have heart and courage. Young people from all over the greater Charleston area attend our school; many live nearby and walk to school.

The diversity of our student body is our greatest strength.

Although we are a Charter for Math and Science, our students have innumerable talents and skills that go well beyond their STEM classes. They are fully aware of Charleston's rich history and appreciate the city they call home. Simply put, the learning environment at our school is awesome.

My Project

This collection of Classic titles is put together by a company called AKJ Education. Many of the books in this set may be more accessible for some of my students.

One of the goals of our classroom library is building interest in reading.

While many of the titles I have pursued through Donors Choose are used to teach specific aspects of a curriculum (AP US History, US History or Honors World History), there is something to be said for encouraging reading for the sake of reading. I am grateful for the success we have enjoyed to this point and look forward to our future achievements!
