Our students have often struggled in other school settings before arriving at our doors.
Whether they were bullied, lagged academically, behaved in challenging ways, or experienced any number of other tough situations they are welcome at our school where we work with students to find ways for them to build the skills and earn the credits they need to reach their goals.
Our students have the opportunity to take rigorous classes in a supportive setting, and if they stay focused they can accomplish a lot of learning in a short period of time. Although every one of my students wants to succeed, many face challenges in and out of school that make it difficult to maintain a focus on learning for even a class period. The desire is there, now they just need support.
In fact, receiving support from the community not only provides the tools they need to learn but also shows them that people believe in their ability to learn and their potential to reach ambitious goals.
My Project
What kept you invested in school and working hard toward your goals? For many of us, it was the chance to participate in extracurricular activities like plays or sports. Students at our school are working hard to get caught up on credits or earn extra credits to graduate early, and they need some of those extras that keep them motivated to push themselves and stay in school. With some basic equipment like volleyballs and knee pads our students can start a team, build community and personal pride, and practice those collaborative, character building, and resiliency skills that pay off for the rest of their lives. Your donation will help us start our very first athletic team and perhaps inspire more student leaders to help start the programs that want to see at our school.
