My Students

Although our school is located in the center of the Silicon Valley, 56% of our students come from low-income families with 22% English Language learners. Only 44% of the parents have had some college or graduated from college.

The school is moving towards one to one Chromebooks, but have not heavily invested in audio visual equipment to help students incorporate musical elements into their projects.

Our students are very talented, but a traditional classroom does not always bring out their individuality.

My Project

My students need a high quality microphone with a filter to make professional recordings of their science songs or narrations to their video projects.

Technology is a tool for learning that can help enhance projects and allow students a more individualized educational experience.

When I have had my students create videos or incorporate the arts into the science classroom, I learn so much about their personal talents and interests. This connection allows me to draw them out in future activities as well. They recognize that subjects can be integrated with each other and statements like, "I'm not good at science" are not accurate.
