This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious and creative but have many different abilities. More than 50% are economically disadvantaged, about 12% qualify for special education and a few are trying inclusion. They love science but require the skills to work in cooperative learning groups that will enhance each child's ability.

Our goal is to create an environment that enables them to focus on real science and learn to work together to bring out the best in each other.

Although each student arrives in my classroom with different strengths and needs, they should learn to work together as one must in the real world.

My Project

My students come to science lab with various strengths and needs. They need to learn how to work cooperatively to bring out the best in each other. By using stools instead of chairs, the students will be able to more easily move together and or create groupings to help and enhance each other's​ strengths.

In the real world, these vibrant students will be a greater asset if they are able to problem solve as a group.

By using stools instead of chairs, getting into cooperative groups or doing away with seating will be much easier and cumbersome. Being able to move or do away with their seating will help these wonderful students become more engaged and break down a small barrier to working together.
