This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom.
My students are an amazing group of 3rd graders who are eager to learn and explore.
They are living a growth-mindset philosophy, embracing the new learning experiences and challenges, and are ready to stretch and grow their brain muscle. Children are like sponges, ready to soak up everything. It is my pleasure and duty to help shape their precious minds to love learning and be successful.
My Project
These materials will make such a impact in my classroom because it will give me a chance to instruct my students with higher level text. As were are reaching the last quarter of school I need high interest text like Rosoce and Riley and Ivy and Bean to engage my lower level readers. These series have been enjoyed by students from other classes. I want my students to be able to also enjoy these characters and get to know them. Students would be able to read these books during independent reading time as well as taking them home to read. These new books will impact the classroom greatly by getting to continue to push my students more everyday with lower level guided reading books, and to push their thinking and their reading just a little more!
They can read these levels and I want to show them that!
