Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have special needs that impact communication and participation in the general curriculum. Each one has a unique situation and learning style that depends on visual schedules, consistent routines, real-time pictures and social stories. Some have the gifts of autism and some have the gifts of Down's Syndrome, but all of them have my heart. I have three very special associates who work hard to give each student an opportunity to succeed. We absolutely love what we do each day!

My Project

Students in my room have sensory sensitivities and use different calming tools based on their preferences. They enjoy certain movements such as swinging and jumping, and love to sit on bean bag chairs when they are taking a break. A mini trampoline will give them an opportunity to jump in place when they need to get the wiggles out. A bean bag or crash pad will give them a comfortable place to take a break. We need to replace a broken trampoline and old, worn out bean bags.

I am hoping to add materials that will help with sensory regulation, such as trampolines, bean bags and/or crash pads.
