Sensory play is one of the best ways to aid in the development of young children. Having a sensory table allows children to use all five senses. Sensory tables are set up to let children learn, explore, and engage their senses by interacting with everything that is being presented to them.
I am requesting two sensory tables for our 125 Kindergarten students to use during our recess time.
Many of our Kindergartners are English Language Learners, SDC students, and students who have never been to school before. Sensory tables help students develop fine motor, skills, and cognitive skills and allow for students to play together and engage with each other in a positive way. Sensory tables also help to provide balance and give students an opportunity to relax and have the freedom to do whatever they want with the objects on the table. The focus is on how students use the materials on the table rather than what’s created with the objects. This makes the learning process fun. Students get excited as they experiment with different objects, colors, textures, weights, etc.
