My Project

Like students everywhere, our falcons are a super special group! I would like to add to my general education classroom sensory items for these awesome students. The items that I would like to add include a therapeutic space with a variety of foam floor mats, weighted blankets, and other equipment that provides students with personalized sensory input— this helps children calm and focus themselves so they can be better prepared for learning and interacting with others. Having sensory items in the classroom is important for all students with special needs or who struggle with sensory overload. This helps students calm and regulate themselves so they can be prepared for learning and interacting with others.

Some students struggle to cope with the world around them.

Loud noises, bright lights, rough patterns, or foods with unwelcome textures are just some of the things that can cause distress. Many of my students require breaks or some sort of stimulation to keep their energy levels maintained during lessons.
