Students are using the wobbly stools during independent work time to help with focus and movement needs, while the weighted blankets and stuffed animals are available in our new \"Calm Corner\" for students who need a sensory break or a moment to self-regulate. One specific project where these resources made a difference was during our Writer's Workshop. A few students who previously struggled to sit and focus for writing are now using the wobbly stools and weighted stuffed animals, which has noticeably increased their stamina and confidence while writing. The materials have truly supported student engagement, focus, and emotional regulation in our daily routines.\r\n\r\nTheir reactions were pure excitement and joy! Several students immediately tried out the wobbly stools and couldn't stop smiling. When I introduced the weighted blankets and stuffed animals, a few students who typically have a harder time settling into the day actually sighed with relief while holding or using them. One student said, \"This feels like a big hug!\" It was incredibly heartwarming to see how quickly they connected with the new resources.\r\n\r\nThe next steps involve helping students build their own self-awareness around emotional regulation and sensory needs. We are working on a \"My Best Learning Space\" project, where students are exploring what tools and strategies help them feel calm, focused, and ready to learn. They will reflect on when and how they use the sensory resources and create personal \"toolkits\" with strategies they can use not just this year, but in future learning environments too. Thanks to these materials, my students are learning not just academics, but lifelong skills around self-regulation and self-advocacy!","fullyFundedDate":1727126948695,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-space-to-help-students-regulate/8804315/","projectTitle":"Sensory Space to Help Students Regulate Feelings, Focus, and Grow","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McNally","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6743345_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726764961100","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsmcnally"},{"teacherId":109372,"projectId":8782236,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing the resources to make \"Etiquette to Impress\" a reality!
