Sensory Sensation

Help me give my students the items that they require, for example, a mini trampoline and weighted vest to assist them with their sensory processing needs, so they can focus and attend to their academic work.

My Students

My students are awesome! They range from kindergarten to second grade. I am a primary learning support teacher, so I teach many grade levels. My students struggle with several different disabilities; autism, sensory processing disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Although my students struggle everyday with their many challenges, they strive to be their very best.

My students attend my classroom for all academic areas such as, reading, spelling, written expression, and math, depending on their needs. They also work on socialization, social/emotional, behavioral, sensory, and executive functioning areas. Everyday is a new day and they work towards goals set by themselves, their parents, and their educators.

My Project

We as educators and our community members expect high academic achievement from our students, however when a child is struggling with sensory processing disorders, autism, adhd, etc., it is very challenging to meet those high expectations.

It is up to us to assist these students in their sensory processing journey!

By providing them with a sensory area, we will allow them to meet their sensory needs before conquering their academic goals. Utilizing the mini trampoline, compression vest, textured squares, lego blocks, and the many other items will give the students the sensory input they need to focus on what's important.
