My Students

I work with students with autism and other physical or cognitive impairments. Our elementary school has several specialized programs. We have students who are very sensory dependent and have students that avoid sensory activities. We would like to create a sensory space for students to achieve individual goals, increase concentration and focus, provide mental and physical relaxation, decrease aggressive behaviors, learn cause and effect, and many more amazing skills. We would like to provide a sensory room that can be used as a therapeutic space and provide students multi-sensory experiences.

My Project

I am requesting materials for my students so they have access if they have difficulties with loud places, need a calming place or need a tactile item to squeeze. Each student may have a different need or similar need; having access to these materials can help meet his or her needs. Some of my students love colored lights and it is calming to the students. Some of my students need tactile items to squeeze to help calm them down. Some students may need tactile items to build dexterity in their hands or core.

The donations to this project will help to improve my students' sensory awareness and/or provide a calming place for their sensory needs.
