Sensory Room = Increased Concentration and Learning
Help me give my students who struggle with emotional regulation or who become overwhelmed have a place to learn how to calm down and self regulate. Having sensory activities can help students regain control of their emotions.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a social worker (PK-5) and love all of my students! We are a Title I school. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and each student is special. We are a Title I school with a high percentage of free and reduced lunch. Many of my students have experienced trauma and I want to help them discover what they need to be successful in school.
My school is great place to work.
I want to create a sensory room for our students. The room will have features for students who need either active activities or help calming down. The 2021-2022 school year will be like no other while we return to normalcy after a pandemic.
My Project
By having a sensory room available for the students who struggle with self regulation it will give them a place to calm down or let out energy (whatever their individual need). This will allow them to return to the classroom refreshed and ready to learn. It will increase their ability to focus and increase learning.
Sensory rooms have been shown to help students manage their emotions and allow them to focus better when they return to the classroom.
Returning to school after a pandemic the need for this resource will be far greater than past years.
