Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are building a sensory classroom for students with autism!

Behavior is communication, change the environment and behaviors will change.

My classroom has 9 wonderful students with autism and the other classroom has 6 wonderful students. This is a primary autism classroom and an intermediate autism classroom which includes kindergarten through fifth grade. These students go to a title I school in Las Vegas. Many of our students have high behavior needs and high sensory needs and could use items that can help regulate and control those needs. Many become over stimulated and can not focus within the classroom and would benefit from items that support their needs.

Please, please help our students! Help me create a learning environment suitable for students with autism who have high sensory and behavioral needs.

My Project

This sensory room that is going to be created is to help our students with autism regulate their senses and frustrations to help with increasing focus within the classroom. Many students with autism have a hard time with regulating their sensory needs and even behavioral needs. This leads to lack of attention and more self-stimulation within the classroom, or an increase in negative behavioral outburst such as aggression, self-harm, crying, screaming, and much more.

By donating, you can help promote a positive atmosphere for students with specials needs.

These students will be able to learn more effectively within the classroom because of your help. Their sensory and behavioral needs will be met and they will also be able to have increased social interactions with peers just like themselves. "Behavior is communication. Change the environment and behaviors will change."-Lana David
