Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Autistic Support for grades 3-5. My students and I work on academics, interpersonal communication, social skills, emotional regulation, and life/vocational skills.
My students desperately need a safe space to take a break when they are feeling frustrated or overstimulated.
I have found a small room in my school that I can use for this purpose, however it is just an empty room. My job is to create a comfortable and safe place for my students to go when they are feeling overwhelmed and need to calm themselves down.
At this time I am requesting comfortable seating, fidgets, calming toys, and sequin fabric to create a sensory wall. Your donations could make this dream a reality for my students and many more who need it!
