My Project

My K–2 special education students work hard every day to navigate challenges with focus, emotional regulation, and sensory needs. Many become overwhelmed by everyday classroom stimuli, which can make it harder for them to feel comfortable, communicate effectively, and fully engage in learning. To better support them, I am seeking resources to create a calming sensory space where they can take a break, regulate their emotions, and return ready to participate.

I teach a wonderful group of young learners with diverse needs, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, and developmental delays.

They are motivated and full of potential, but often need extra support to manage strong emotions and sensory input.

Even routine parts of the school day, like transitions, noise, or challenging tasks, can become overwhelming. When this happens, it can affect their ability to stay engaged, learn, and build positive relationships with others.

These materials will make the sensory room a cozy and inviting area for the students to come relax and get themselves ready to learn in the general education classroom!
