Help me give my students more access to meaningful sensory regulation activities! These activities support them in more playing, learning, and having fun!
As an Early Childhood Special Education teacher, I evaluate and support students between the ages of 3-5 with varying disabilities or developmental delays. Many of my students have been diagnosed with autism, down syndrome, cognitive disabilities, or are experiencing developmental delays.
I support these students in a self-contained early childhood classroom and also support them in their natural environment, such as day care or home.
I truly feel so lucky to get to go to work every day and support these amazing little learners!
My students have a variety of different abilities, making our classroom such a joyful place to learn with each other. In our classroom we believe in learning and exploring through play and student led experiences. We also offer a variety of different sensory experiences to support the varying needs of our students. Our team, consisting of myself, my paraprofessional, speech therapist, occupational therapist, and physical therapist, have a vision of best supporting the individual needs of All of our students. We want them to feel loved, cared for, and provided with an engaging environment where they can continue to develop their skills.
My Project
A majority of my learners seek out some type of vestibular input on a daily basis. Vestibular input is the sensation of any change in direction, position, or movement of the head. Many of my learners do not process this input appropriately, which results in motor and attention difficulties. My learners need to engage in these activities to help them better regulate their little bodies.
Having access to this SensaRock , would give them another functional option to help self-regulate.
After successful sensory regulation, they are then more likely to play, learn, and have fun being kids!
