Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are an inclusive preschool classroom in a hard to serve area. We have two half day programs with a total of 30 students. The children in my classroom are being provided with an opportunity to bridge the achievement gap due to being enrolled in a preschool setting. We have many dual language learners between the ages 3 to 5 years old.

Out of the 30 children in the class, 12 of them are diagnosed with a disability.

The disabilities include autism, developmental delay, sensory processing disorder, and Down Syndrome. The headphones, vests, and lap pillows on my wish list will help support the students with disabilities to access the general education setting.

My Project

It is the most wonderful time of the year.... School is starting!!! I am looking to inherit a few more high quality materials to start the school year off full of fun! If we are able to buy chair bands, they are placed at the bottom of chairs to allow for kiddos who are kinesthetic learners to move. Our sensory table is currently broken as it leaks, so we are hoping to get a new one. Sensory tables promote fine motor development, increase cognitive skills, promotes language, creates an environment for social interactions, and allows for creativity. We are also in need of dry erase markers and an engaging activity, like wikisticks, to encourage the exploration of pre-literacy skills such as making letters.
