This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are three years old and experiencing school for the first time. They need a warm and caring environment which we strive to provide each and every day. They will learn through centers and small group activities. During center time they will guide their own imaginations and learning through the materials we make available.
These creative three year olds, need opportunities to use their imaginations!
This class loves to create and build. I want to give them opportunities to use those imaginations in every center. I love the freedom they have during our center block, but I want to give them more robust materials to encourage literacy and math skills.
My Project
My students are three years old and we need to build their fine motor skills along with teaching literacy and math concepts. Young children learn best by using all of their senses. We need more sensory materials in our classroom.
Through this project you will help these three year old build reading skills through sensory play.
The water and sand table is a favorite every year, but that's only one center. I want to put similar experiences in every center so that my students will be able to access literacy and math concepts through the things that build their engagement.
They love play dough and with your help we will add letter stamps that will help them learn how to recognize and spell their name. The scissors will help these young students build fine motor skills needed to write their name with a pencil. The mats will help them to be successful in cleaning up, which builds independence.
The kinetic sand can go in smaller tubs with lids into any center or a small group time. This extends the love of sand and sensory needs into other areas of the room.
