I teach a preschool classroom compromised of amazing students with intense medical and/or cognitive needs, as well as typically developing preschool students. Our students are a mix of children with special needs and typical peers. Our goal is to reach each child in a way that best serves their unique needs. The classroom consists of three and four year old children who are an inspiration to the adults who work with them. Most of our students come from a low-income family and do not always get the same opportunities as others, at just three or four years of age they have met and overcome more challenges than most people do in a lifetime.
My Project
Many of my students have been receiving virtual instruction due to covid. The students in my class have chosen face-to-face instruction. We return to school in a few weeks and I would love to have these sensory items available. They will help in calming and reassuring my students in what will be a big transition for them. They have been home since March. These materials will be utilized throughout their school day to help soothe and comfort as well as get out exciting energy in an appropriate way.
