This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Working in special education, I find that many of my students have particular sensory needs. Whether to help them calm when they are feeling over-stimulated or to give them additional sensory input when they are feeling under-stimulated, these foot rollers, shoulder wrap, seat cushions, and other sensory items will be helpful in meeting their needs.

Every student has unique sensory needs.

By having these materials in my toolkit, I can better help my students learn different ways to regulate their emotions. Being able to regulate themselves will in turn help them be able to participate more successfully in our speech therapy sessions, and will increase their overall success and learning. It will also give them the necessary tools to learn to self-regulate outside of school as well.
