This school year we opened a sensory room to meet the needs of all of our students. This room provides a safe space for students to express their emotions as well as a fun space for kids to get their wiggles out. A part of this sensory room is a sensory library where staff (and students) can go to 'check out' items to help students.
These materials will provide an opportunity for my students to improve their coping skills in a way that is socially appropriate.
The fidgets will allow the students to cope with being nervous and/or anxious. The headphones will allow the students to cope with loud environments. The kick bands and sensory seats will allow the students to cope with attention and being anxious.
