My students come from an area that has a high percentage of low-income families. They come to school for more than just education. They need a safe space that they are able to explore, release, relax, and grow.
My classroom has the opportunity to provide learners an individualized approach to each learners' ability and style.
We are always learning by structured programs, naturalistic learning activities, and step by step modeled behaviors and learning opportunities.
We are at our most successful when we are able to have many chances for learning and repeated practice for each new activity or expectation we have for our students. My students require an individualized approach including, individual tokens, icons, visual reminders, and learning material.
My Project
My students are working hard to be successful through every single task throughout their day, even small tasks that we take for granted.
They need tools and support to regulate their bodies in order to be successful with everyday tasks.
With these tools we give our students ways to give their bodies what they need. For example, jumping, rollings, spinning, and pressure are all sensory regulations that students need all throughout the day. By using the Round ball chamber, SensaRock, Monkey jump, weighted blanket, and rope ladder, each student can find ways to feed their sensory needs.
Once my students are able to regulate their bodies they can focus on their work and be more successful throughout their day! By setting up each student for success we will see more growth for each student in all areas!
