Every day we have battle sitting in our hard, boring, non-sensory seats. Several students that work just on sitting in a chair everyday for short periods of time. With flexible seating this would create sensory integration and create the correct transitional steps to reaching each students goals. We could start with the HowdaHUG chair and the Comfy floor seat to get them sitting and working in a different area. We could then transition into sitting into the wobble chair at the desk. Wobble chairs and bouncy bands will have amazing effects for my students that have learned to sit in their chairs for longer periods time. Although they can sit in a seat we find that we are still fidgeting. If we had flexible seating to help get our wiggles out we would be able to attend to our task for longer periods of time. A key essential to running a functional and successful life skills room is sensory integration. With wobble chairs, bouncy bands, boundary chair, comfy floor seats, and the HowdaHUG chair we would be able to create sensory input and output while working. This allows many of the students to create a successful learning environment for them as well as the peers around them.
