Sensory Integration for Preschoolers with Autism

My Project

As an educator working with preschoolers with autism, I am always looking for innovative ways to support sensory integration and motor development in my classroom. Sensory processing is an essential part of a child's development, especially for children on the autism spectrum, who may experience heightened sensitivity or seek out certain sensory experiences to help regulate themselves.

The Southpaw Steam Roller is a therapeutic tool designed to provide deep pressure input which is essential for preschoolers with autism.

This roller helps children regulate their sensory needs, improve motor skills, and stay calm throughout the day.

Children with autism often experience difficulty processing sensory input, which can lead to overstimulation or anxiety. The Southpaw Steam Roller promotes self-regulation, body awareness, and relaxation by providing calming pressure. This tool also encourages social skills, as children take turns using the roller together, fostering collaboration and patience.

Incorporating the Southpaw Steam Roller will support children in developing emotional regulation, focus, and social interactions. It’s a simple, effective way to improve their learning experience and overall well-being.

Preschool is a time of critical development which can be especially challenging for autistic children to navigate the sensory experiences of a classroom. Providing children with tools that allow them to regulate their sensory needs helps them feel more comfortable, confident, and ready to engage in learning.

The Southpaw Steam Roller is an easy-to-implement, low-maintenance solution that would make a significant impact on the daily experiences of my students.
