This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This group of kids loves to play music on the instruments we do have. We are trying to build the community through music but there are very real limitations with resources. This first project would provide more accessible instruments for all students. Creativity, curiosity, and musicality can and should be grown in locations other than the music room! My school is 77% free and reduced lunch, and funding is sometimes challenging to find.

Please help me give them a top notch musical education!

My Project

At our school, we have students who would benefit from music therapy and/or sound exploration for a wide variety of reasons. These students would be able to explore sound and music in places other than the music room, where they are limited by class time. Aside from the obvious musical impact, this would help with management of emotions, enhance curiosity and creativity, and grow fine and gross motor skills. Allowing exploration in a safe environment allows students to safely demonstrate positive character traits such as emotional stability, determination, diligence, and grit. The kids would love this unique, extra musical opportunity!
