Sensory Den

Help me give my students a relaxing Sensory Den to help with managing coping skills. This includes a light table, a sand table, and other items.

My Students

My students are in the Exceptional Children's Program here at NE school. This is a new Self contained class for my students. I want to make this transition as fun as possible. The grade levels range from kindergarten to 5th.

My Project

I am a Special Education Teacher at an elementary school located in Kinston, North Carolina. I teach grades K-5. If my project is funded, it will help me with setting up our sensory den. I have a few Autistic students and this den will help them to relax and utilize coping skills that we are working on. This sensory den will also help my older students relax as well.

The items I've selected have neutral, cool, and calming lights to help with stimulation.

The sensory table will be great for visual stimulation to help decrease behaviors. The sensory table will be used for math activities to help with counting and recognizing numbers. The lights from the table will help grasp students attention as we learn to add and subtract.
