This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project is all about the senses and fine motor skills!! Humans learn through their senses and children in particular learn through the sense of touch! This project is for large sensory boards to hang up throughout the hallways of our school. They provide teachable moments while walking through the hallways, as well as sensory opportunities for all of our kiddos.
They provide opportunities to build fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, language skills, recognition skills, space understanding, counting skills, and music enlightenment.
Children of all abilities will enjoy working with these sensory boards, but our PreK and students with special needs will get the most out of them. Our school has special needs classrooms for grades PreK-6. These will be utilized while the students are in the hallway walking, waiting in lines, or simply taking a trip to the boards. This is truly a project to enhance the school for all students. They are happy boards in the shapes of a hippo, a crocodile, a shark, and a caterpillar.
