Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have sensory needs that are addressed all day. These students can't focus unless they are using sensory items to learn. They need sensory breaks where they can explore sensory items, such as bubbles and kinetic sand. They learn through curiosity when searching for letters or objects in colored rice or other sensory objects. They are engaged in learning when they use their gross motor skills when jumping on a trampoline or balancing on a balance ball. They are able to wait their turn when they fidget with toys like spinners and poppers. They are able to participate longer with sensory activities using things like putty and playdough. They are able to withstand the noisy lunchroom environment with sensory activities to distract them like fun foam. They are able to sit in whole group with a stretchy ball or string to manipulate while they deal with the high sensory activities with multiple students. These students love working for bubbles and other toys. These sensory materials are needed to support a multi-sensory, rich environment.
