Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are creative, resilient, and full of curiosity. In our inclusion classroom, they learn best through hands-on activities that allow them to explore, communicate, and express themselves in different ways. Many of my students benefit from sensory-based learning experiences that help them stay engaged, build confidence, and develop positive social-emotional skills.

The resources in this project will help create a welcoming and engaging classroom environment where every child can feel successful and connected.

Art supplies, clay, and Crayola dough will provide meaningful hands-on learning experiences that support creativity, sensory exploration, and peer collaboration. Polymer clay and dough will help strengthen fine motor skills needed for writing, improve focus, and support sensory regulation. Art materials such as crayons, paint, and markers, will encourage self-expression, communication, and confidence.

The instant camera will also play an important role in supporting student engagement and family connections. Teachers will use the instant camera to take photos of students during classroom activities, special events, and learning experiences. These instant photos can be shared with families, helping parents feel more connected to their child’s school experience. The photos will also be displayed on student boards and around the classroom to celebrate student work, build confidence, and create a sense of belonging. Many young children respond positively to seeing themselves represented in the classroom, and the instant photos will help students feel excited, engaged, and proud of their learning.

My goal for this project is to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, supported, and motivated to learn. My students are special because they learn in unique ways, show resilience every day, and thrive when given opportunities to explore, create, and connect through sensory-based and hands-on activities.
