I teach the higher functioning self-contained elementary students. My students are a mix of Autistic and Learning Disabled students that teach me something new every day! I have spent years teaching middle school so I am learning just as much, if not more than they are daily.
We all work together to learn new things in new ways everyday.
We do a lot of hands on, interactive projects. My students really enjoy manipulating the world around them to learn and experience new things.
My Project
My students love to learn and explore in new and exciting ways. We start each day with STEM free time, and I know they will love building and creating with the Picasso Tile brand magnetic tile sets. We also need a storage box to put them in. Due to their Autism and Anxiety, my students need fidgets to help them remain focused on their work. The Tangle sensory fidget toys in different textures will be a great tool for them to use to channel their anxious feelings. The Do-A-Dot markers are used almost daily to help my students that do not have the fine motor control needed to circle or color items.
