My students are truly amazing. They push themselves daily to defeat all odds that are placed in their way. My students attend a special education preschool classroom. The students in my class fall on the Autism spectrum in some way or another. Most students in my class are non-verbal and many struggle with different sensory issues.
My students may have difficulty with sensory issues that prevent them from wanting to touch the world around them, hear loud sounds, or even changes to their everyday routine.
Every student I have loves learning and exploring in their own way. Every day I try to push my students past their disability to reach every possibility that awaits them!
My Project
The touch and sound items will help my friends learn through different sounds and textures. These products allow the items to be concealed so students can have the ability to pick up and learn on their own. The colors caterpillar mat allows my friends to learn how to sort and match through fun exploration. This mat allows them to play while learning. Many of my students learn from their senses due to their limited vocabulary. The sensory items allow them to dive into their learning using their senses and allows them to learn through play. These items push my students to step outside their comfort zone.
All these items would be great additions to our special needs preschool class.
To make learning easier the for my friends I need to teach through the use of touch and sight. The cognitive games allow them to tie the words to the items allowing them to learn in a different way. My students learn mainly through sensory learning. All these items allow me to push my students past their comfort zone and achieve their goals.
