My students are amazing and unique learners. They are exceptional students with varying strengths and interests. Their disabilities require creative and varied instructional strategies in order for them to access the curriculum. They are lots of fun to work with and always give me a challenge.
My exceptional students are in kindergarten through 2nd grade and have lots of sensory needs.
A lot of the day is spent meeting those needs and teaching them the routines of school. We are working on communication through speech, sign language, and assistive communication devices.
Although my students have disabilities and sensory needs, they are smart and can learn. They will take longer to grasp some concepts or learn some routines, but they love school and learning and have a "Can do" attitude. They are a joy to teach each day.
My previous project helped me set up a sensory station for my classroom. These additions will add to the project and help us organize some sensory bins. We are going to replace the bins that are cracked and broken. We are also going to enlarge the foam floor.
We are creating a new Kinetic Sandbox for everyone to enjoy!
The students will love the feel of the material and the limited mess makes it great for the classroom. Now that we have the sensory items we need, we can get it all organized so that the students can access it easily and independently.
