Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Sensory processing plays a vital role in early childhood development, particularly for young learners on the autism spectrum. When sensory needs are met, students feel safe, regulated, and ready to engage in learning. This project will fund three key components to transform our classroom's sensory support system:

A Sensory Table: This dedicated station will serve as a tactile learning center where students can explore materials like rice, water, kinetic sand, and water beads.

It offers a soothing, constructive space for tactile input, fine motor skill development, and cooperative play.

Sensory Toys: Items like squishy balls, textured pieces, and musical shakers will give students interactive options to self-regulate when feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated.

Fidgets: Silent, classroom-friendly fidget tools (like pop-its and textured pieces) will allow students to satisfy their body's need for movement while staying focused during carpet time, read-alouds, and group instruction.

The materials will help make a difference by bringing a sensory table, fidgets, and sensory toys into our classroom. You are helping create an environment where sensory integration happens naturally alongside learning.

These resources will:

Promote Self-Regulation: Give students healthy, accessible outlets to manage anxiety, sensory overload, and big emotions. Increase Focus & Academic Engagement: Keep students calm and attentive during instructional times so they don't miss key foundational skills. Build Inclusive Community: Encourage peer interactions and collaborative play at the sensory table, helping all students build friendships and social-emotional skills together.

Your support will ensure that every student in our inclusion classroom has the tools they need to feel comfortable, supported, and ready to learn every single day. Thank you for investing in our amazing kindergarteners!
